2019 Indiana Heritage Arts 41st Exhibition and Sale

Bill Farnsworth was selected to be the 41st judge of the 2019 Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition. Bill is a graduate of the Ringling School of Arts and Design and has spent his life working as an illustrator and artist. Bill had to narrow down his choices from almost 300 works of art to approximately 100 works juried into the show. According to Bill, "My approach to judging was to make several passes over the entire show. Usually, award winners jump off the wall, while others are appreciated on another pass. I look for work that has a well-executed strong design that carries across the room, and, getting closer, I look for the musical notes in the piece. How does the artist conduct the viewer's eye? The Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition has grown to one of the largest exhibitions in the Midwest with over $20,000 in prize money. 2018 Indiana Heritage Arts 40th Exhibition and Sale

The 40th Annual Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition kicked off the summer art season in Nashville, Indiana on June 9th, 2018. This year's judge, Nationally known artist Stapleton Kerns  was tasked with determining which artist would compete for prize money totaling $30,000. Approximately 300 paintings were submitted for review with only 100 paintings receiving the stamp of approval by Mr. Kerns.  Stapleton Kerns studied at the Atelier of R. H. Ives Gammell (1893 - 1981) and lived and honed his artistic skills in Rockport Massachusetts during the early years of his career. He lives in New England teaching and creating his art. According to Mr. Kerns "As a Juror, I tried to choose those works that were technically sound, well designed and held together as a unified whole. I looked for paintings that made a strong visual statement, were confidently executed and were individual and original, even if they showed the influence of historical artists or were of familiar subjects. 2017 Indiana Heritage Arts 39th Exhibition and Sale

Sixty One artists representing 101 paintings were juried into this years Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition. The exhibition opened on June 10, 2017, and ran through July 1, 2017. This year's judge Lori Putnam is a Nashville Tennessee native and is plein air and studio painter. She had the tough job of deciding which paintings were juried into this year's show. She said "this is perhaps one of the hardest exhibitions I have ever had to judge" This year's show had a wide variety of subject matter that resulted in a well-rounded exhibition. It also demonstrates the wide variety of artistic talent entering the show. The Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition in Nashville Indiana should be on everyone lists of must-see exhibitions in Indiana. 2015 Indiana Heritage Arts 37th Exhibition and Sale

Forrest Formsma wins $5,000 first prize at 37th IHA Exhibition The 37th Annual, Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition, opened to the public on June 6th, 2015, at the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville, Indiana. James Richards of Atlanta, GA, was selected to judge the paintings submitted by this year's artists. Seventy artists and 123 works of art were juried into the show this year, making the artist eligible for prize money and awards. This year's First Prize Gold Award of $5000 was awarded to Forrest Formsma for a 30" x 40" oil painting titled "Spring Carriage Ride." C. W. 2014 Indiana Heritage Arts 36th Exhibition and Sale

Indiana Heritage Arts First Prize awarded to Fred Doloresco. Indiana Heritage Arts 2014 This year's show had an excellent selection of art covering a variety of media and subject matter. With 30,000 in prize money for this year's show, judge Jason Saunders from Nashville Tennessee was tasked with determining which of the 135 artists were juried into the show. From the 71 juried artists, Jason picked the Following winners for this year's prizes. First Prize Gold Award of $5,000 went to last year's First Prize winner Fred Doloresco for his oil painting titled "Kettle Corn." Indiana Heritage Arts 35th annual Exhibition and Sale

Dawn Whitelaw was selected to judge the 35th Indiana Heritage Arts juried fine arts exhibition and sale.  Hosted by the Brown County Art Gallery from June 08-22, 2013, the Indiana Heritage Arts is a nonprofit organization founded in 1979, and each year sponsors the juried exhibition open to Indiana artists. Dawn had the task of not only judging but narrowing down the field of entries from 341 to 120. The First Prize Gold Award of $5000 was awarded to Fred Dolresco for his painting titled “Azaleas.“ The Second Prize Silver Award of $3000 went to C.W. Mundy for a painting titled “Silver Coffee Urn and Red Pears." Third Prize Bronze Award of $2000 was awarded to Todd Reifers for "Sledding at Riverside Park. C. W. Mundy Wins First Prize at 33rd Indiana Heritage Arts June 11-25, 2011 - The 33rd Indiana Heritage Arts juried fine arts exhibition and sale was hosted by the Brown County Art Gallery from June 11-25, 2011.  On display and for sale were 135 paintings entered by Indiana Artist and selected by this years, Judge Kathryn Stats of Salt Lake City, Utah. The First Prize Gold Award of $5000 was awarded to C. W Mundy for his painting titled “Creek Near Story.“ The Second Prize Silver Award of $3000 went to Victoria Gilron for a painting titled “Freckles. Indiana Heritage Arts 32nd annual Exhibition and Sale

Ken Bucklew Receives First Prize at 2010 Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition  The Brown County Art Gallery, located in Nashville, Indiana, hosted the 32nd Annual Indiana Heritage Arts (IHA) show and sale on June 12th through June 26th, 2010. The IHA show drew an estimated 1,500 visitors to view the 129 paintings juried into the show by this year’s judge,  Wylie, Texas artist John Pototschnik.  John received his art training at Wichita State University, specializing in advertising design and illustration.  He also studied at the Art Center College in Los Angles, Ca.  Over the years, John worked at several major advertising agencies and companies in Dallas, TX, then began painting professionally in 1982.  John took on the challenge of awarding prizes for the vast selection of paintings entered into the competition. Ken Bucklew of Spencer, In. took the Gold Award (First Prize) for a landscape oil painting titled “Overlook Near Freedom,” receiving $5,000 for first prize. The IHA Board of Di
