Artist Statement
I have always had a deep interest in nature and draw my artistic inspiration from the beautiful Indiana landscape and the rich history of Indiana art. As an artist, I feel I benefit from studying Indiana artists from the past and am amazed at how they interpreted the Indiana landscape and translated what they saw onto canvas. I work to achieve a level of realism in my painting while not losing sight of expressing the mood of the scene with light and color that were so important to the past Indiana artists. I choose subjects to paint by viewing the world around me through the lens of a nature enthusiast. As I finish each painting, I continue to look forward to the next challenge and creating a piece of art that not only inspires myself but others.
