Established in 1926 by the Brown County Art Colony artists Dale Bessire, Carl Graf, Mari Goth, Ada Walter Shulz, Will Vawter, L.O. Griffith, Adolph Shulz, V.J Cariani and Indianapolis businessman William Wilkes. The group established the Gallery and artist association in an old grocery store purchased and renovated by Wilkes to display their works of art.  Today the gallery displays the works of art from the members of the Brown County Art Association, houses a permanent collection of early Indiana art, gallery space for the Indiana Heritage Arts and a permanent gallery for Glenn Cooper Henshaw.
