A Signature Edward K. Willams sells at Indianapolis auction for $15,000
The signature painting at the June 16th Jackson auction held at 617 E. North St. Indianapolis, In., was a 1947 Hoosier Salon entry by artist Edward K. Williams (1870 - 1950). Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Williams studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. In his early years, he stayed at the Pittman Inn along with fellow artists while painting Brown County. Eventually, Williams moved to Nashville, Indiana in 1926 and was a charter member of the Brown County Art Gallery Association. Wanting to paint snow scenes out of doors all winter, he would leave Brown County for painting the snowy landscape of Door County, Wisconsin. The painting titled "The Bridge" measured 34x40 SLL/SLR and sold it to the highest bidder for $15,000.L. W. Bonsib Painting "Morning Light" |
