Biography of Fred Rigley

  1. Fred Rigley Indiana artist studied at the Ringling School of Art, Hilton Leach School of Art in Sarasota, FL
  2. Studied under Emile A. Gruppe, John F. Carlson, and Floyd Hopper
  3. First discovered Brown county as a student by driving Alberta Shultz's car back to Nashville from Florida.
  4. Moved to Brown County in 1948 from Gloucester, MA
  5. Opened Rigley Studios and an art supply and framing store
  6. Taught Landscape painting with the Indianapolis Art League for 25 years
  7. Painted plein air and was known for his landscape paintings
