Art Sanctuary Reception

During its first Friday of each month's studio tour, the Art Sanctuary in Martinsville, Indiana, held a reception for the Art Alliance of Brown County.  Many works from Alliance member artists were displayed in the former church main sanctuary. Anabel Hopkins, who maintains a studio in Brown County, had several of her oils on display and for sale.   Working in acrylic, Monique Cagel displayed her landscapes consisting of typical Brown County scenes. She works from her Sleepy Cat Studio in Brown County and is an associate member of the Brown County Art Gallery Artist Association, Hoosier Salon, and Indiana Heritage Arts. Daren Pitts Redman displayed several of her art quilts and was the only textile artist represented at the show. Daren lives in Brown County and hand dyes the fabrics used in her work. Water Color artists were represented by the works of Tom Tuley. Also, Judy and Tom Prichard brought pottery from their Oak Grove Studio in Brown County.

Many of the resident artists had their studios open to the public to browse and purchase their works. The Art Sanctuary holds an open house from 5:00 to 10:00 the first Friday of every month and is located 190 North Sycamore Street in Martinsville, IN.
